Boys Under Water Themed Nursery, Hale

Anyone who knows me knows I love doing a children’s bedroom. I like that I can go wild with colour and patterns and do something fun! That was exactly what my very young client wanted for his room.

We hung this beautiful under the sea mural to the main wall as you entered the room. This then became the focal point of the room so we went more neutral with the rest of the scheme. This is always a good way to a design a child’s bedroom so it will grow with them by simply changing the wallpaper when they grow out of it, and keeping costs down.

My customer wanted a light soft feel to the carpet so we used a Firth carpet in a white shade with an amazing underlay to add that luxurious feel she wanted. The blue rug breaks up the white flooring and adds a splash of colour and layers to the room.

We used white wooden furniture and this lovely modern rocking chair along with a stunning padded wardrobe and crib.

The curtains, as always, are bespoke made, with a pinch pleat heading,  interlining and blackout lined. The Harlequin fabric I used has a subtle pattern with tiny sequins down it to add texture which drape on the floor beautifully. My fitter then hung them on a chrome pole to match the chandelier in the centre of the room and we used an oversize diamanté tieback to add a bit of sparkle!

And as always I finished the room with accessories…only this time rather than my usual vases it was soft toys including a giant giraffe. A perfect room for a perfect little boy!
